Hi! It me! MOW'n'SKI! Doing a blog!

It's been fun setting this up so far. It's been a while since I've written the words "Hello World" but it felt apt, I wonder if I should start every project with it. So I've been going a bit mental for around a year now, been unemployed for around 6 months (jesus christ) but been doing some work experience to get me out of it and I've ended up so much more productive. It's been a humbling but frustrating experience. It's crazy how productive I've felt doing make work. Guess the useful thing about make work is if you go about it the right way at least you're actively improving a skill.

Feel like just talking about my handle today. People who've known me long enough or just know my name will know my handle just comes from my surname, it was a bit of a joke I had as a kid. My surname is the Polish name "Mowinski" which growing up would always get mispronounced in a lot of different ways as unless you are familiar with slavic names you won't realise that "w" is pronounced like a "v". I remember one day finding out, or maybe just realising, that a lot of surnames are based professions, referring to where you come from or who you come from; suchas Smith and Johnson being metalsmiths and sons of John, but it comes to a problem when you can't speak the language of your surname nor have any living relatives who can. Not to mention just speaking the language doesn't mean you're necessarily going to know the roots of words. So I would joke that my ancestors were mowers and skiers: MOW'n'SKI.
Very daft stuff.
Over the years I've grown very attached to the handle, albeit with a few years where, even though I loved it, I actively tried to stop people referring to me as it; but that's a story for another day. Later though I decided to try and find out what it means again. I still don't really know for sure but what I did learn is the suffix "-ski" just means belonging to a place or a person, similar to "-son" in "Johnson". So that means all I have to do is find out what "Mowin" means. Great! I thought, that can't be too hard. So I found out that it's likely to come from "Mowie" which could be a place that existed at some point in Poland or, the answer I like more, it comes from the Polish verb meaning "to speak". I like this a lot since it means I come from generations of yappers so I really hope it's that. While I think people caring too much about their ancestry is daft since you should really try to be your own person I do think it's important to have some roots and I'm glad for that. I think that's as much as I'm gonna be bothered to go on about today, I just needed to do something to get this started, hopefully the next one will be a little more structured but I'm already finding this quite nice to do. Imma shut up for tonight, until the next one
